Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority recently presented the draft Master Plan 2041 for the proposed Agra Urban Centre, outline a large phased development spread over nearly 14,480 hectares and projected to generate around 10 lakh jobs.
The master plan envisages development in three phases, with emphasis on non-polluting industries, tourism, hospitality, information technology, and sustainability. Residential areas covering about 1,878 hectares are proposed, with sector wise planning for HIG, MIG, LIG and EWS housing, catering to an estimated population of 12 – 15 lakhs.
An industrial zone of about 3,000 hectares has been earmarked, while tourism development will span nearly 405 hectares across two zones, including hotels, resorts and exhibition and trade centre, riverfront projects, theme parks and wellness facilities.
The blue print also proposes a golf course, sports village, biodiversity park, two city level parks, and four district level parks to enhance green cover. A 256 MW solar park is included to support clean energy needs.
Connectivity forms a key pillar of the plan, with proposed upgrades to road networks, interchanges and transport infrastructure aligned with air, rail, metro and expressway links.
In line with Taj Trapezium Zone norms, officials stressed that only industries with a pollution score below 20 should be allowed.
YEIDA said the finalized master plan would be published soon, after which public objections and suggestions would be invited.
